Cable TV, Who Needs It Anyways!

Its basic economics, but as of late its having a big effect on cable companies. Just in Q3 of this year, Comcast alone lost over 275,000 customers subscribing to basic cable. Sure you can factor in tough economic times and people cutting costs of luxuries at the home, but when you look at the stats of the up rise of other competing services, it’s clear, cable is on the downfall.

Do You Have a Need for Speed?

Ive been a fan of the NFS series since the original on the PC. The original games were so great, i always preferred NFS games over Gran Tourismo or any other brandings. It was the unique gameplay of the NFS scene that gained my interest in racing games. The most recent game in the series, Shift, was a complete redesign of the gameplay. At first i hated the game, but after a while of playing it i began to like it, but never more so than the classic gametype. So i am incredibly stoked they are bringing back a classic game like hot pursuit. Even better the studio that brought us Burnout Paradise is developing the game. But for those that like the gamestyle in Shift better, fear not, Shift 2 will be released in 2011. Check out these Hot Pursuit 2 videos below!

From Dust an Intriguing Xbox Live Arcade Game

This is the First ive heard of this game "From Dust" but it looks spectacular! It looks like a very graphically intense physics based game where you literally change the world around you. I'm really excited to see more about this game in the future!

New Fear 3 Gameplay Trailer

Fear 3 supports multiplayer as point man or Fettel. Point Man being able to slow down time to shoot the bad guys. Fettel with the more unique skill set, being able to shoot red energy projectiles from his hands or pick someone up with a telekinesis ability and rip them apart. Will the multiplayer action take away from the fear of surprise you get from being alone, time will only tell, but for now check out the intense action in the trailer below.

Assassins Creed Brotherhood - Dev Diary

We all know this game is going to be awesome, its pretty much just AC2 with multiplayer. Aside from its new multiplayer mode it is looking like the campaign might have a solid story!

Brink - Dev Diary

This game has looked very promising from the start, Despite some negative early hands on reviews at E3, i think it still has a lot of potential to be a great game. This first Dev Diary is imerged with the story behind brink, which to me sounds like a great plot. the only thing that could plague this game is poor game mechanics and bad controls. anyways check out for yourself and see what you think.

Shank comes out on August 24 and looks to be an awesome game for XBLA. It will feature a full campaign with or without Co-op, but the real interesting thing about the game is its graphics, its alomst got a hand drawn comic book style graphics to it yet still manages to look crisp and clean in HD.

Havent posted anything in the last week, been so busy trying to stay ontop of all the E3 annoucements. There was so much good stuff that i cant put it all on here so i will just provide all of you with the links to some awesome websites that have plenty of E3 coverage.

First of GameTrailers.com this is your site for everything E3. They got the microsoft press conference which was cool but sorta dissapointing at the same time. I heard the Nintendo Press Conference was amazing although i have yet to watch it. As the website name implies, they have all of you game trailers, some of which are amazing (Metal Gear Solid - Rising) and others that fall short of expectations (Brink).

Xbox360Achievements is one of the best websites out there that focuses on new and upcoming games, ie they covered everything that is E3, and of course they have a heavy focus on the achievements of games. They have plenty of articles and previews of upcoming games and lots of photos from the show floor at E3.

Space Marine - The Warhammer 40K FPS

Naughty Bear - Gameplay Trailer

Its not a new game live action trailer, no its not a movie trailer either... its actually a film pitch for Warner Brothers Studios. "Okay, so... Mortal Kombat. It's not a game trailer," said Ryan. "Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film. I did it as a favor to a friend. No idea yet what WB's reaction to it was. And I'm not sure how you can contact WB to push them to make it. But you guys are resourceful...! ;-)" Based on the footage, i really hope they make something of it. Epic doesnt even begin to explain the awesomeness of this.. Watch it for yourself.

More so Intrigued than Enslaved. looks like an interesting and fun story but not enough gameplay footage to know how it will play out.

Deus EX - Human Revolution

$5 for Online Gameplay for Used Games

Would you pay $5 on-top of what you paid for a used game just to get the online experience of the game, this is on-top of the fee you already pay for Xbox Live or the $70 per year fee for Playstation Network Premium service. Yeah if you havent heard about that yet, Playstation will be starting a new pay service for their Network on the PS3 which will include a bunch of new feature and even free games whilst not taking away any features of the free service. Well better get used to the idea of paying an additional $5 for online gameplay for used games because its gaining momentum very quickly.

Google TV

Typical Google styled video displaying their newest emerging technology. The built in to the TV idea is great, especially their partnership with Sony on this however the separate set top box type adapter is nothing new and has a lot of competition out there. Sure a lot of people are sure to buy it but it will be the Apple type people who aren't tech enthusiasts and don't know any better.

Use LEDs to send and recieve data

Sure Infrared devices are LEDs that send and receive data by light transmission but in a non-visible spectrum of light. Now they have developed a new transmission type that sends data at a rate of 2Mbps, rather slow for todays standards, but whats cool is that it can double as a regular lighting device as the blinking rate is so quick that the human eye can not detect the flickering of it.

Beta Updates

Halo Reach Beta gets extended! Dont get too excited its only an extra day. You can play until 11am Thursday morning!

Assassins Creed Brotherhood will be getting a multiplayer Beta this summer. No other details on this until E3 when all will be revealed! I can only imagine how important the beta will be for this game, as much as i welcome multiplayer for AC i just cant fathom how its going to play out.

In other Ubisoft news, Ghost Recon - Future Soldier is getting pushed back into march 2011, which as far as im concerned is a good thing. Too many great games coming out this fall, despite the fact that Future Soldier will be a day one for me.

FEAR 3 - Trailer

Blood runs deep, Fear runs deeper! This game is looking promising. I hope they make it scarier, like the original fear was. Fear 2 just wasn't that scary but it was still good. The inclusion of Co-op will definitely make this game a lot more fun but having someone there with you might take away from that fear factor.

Have you ever seen Nissans "The Run" video, where they only used 14 different cameras to film a run of the Nissan 350Z over a 5.7mile span across the city of Prague. Its quite impressive if you haven't seen it be sure to check this link. How about the BMW mini series of ads back in 2000 entitled "The Driver" which featured Clive Owen.

Bulletstorm Trailer

This is the first of probably many to come trailers of this fps from the collaborative efforts of Epic and People Can Fly studios, since its not due for release until 2011. I must say from this gameplay trailer it sure does look like a blast. Halo Reach Beta - All Good Things Come to an End

May 3rd- May 19th, yes only 16 days of Reach. wow what a short beta period, thats the worst news i've heard in a while, i was expecting this for at least a month, i guess Bungie really must have a fairly fine tuned machine already. There will be different playlist and maps available at different times during this short period, so make sure you get on everyday or so to get the full Reach experience.
